What these numbers mean for your installation
A datasheet tells you what the unit does. This is what each figure changes about how you specify, feed and site it — worked out for the ~200 kVA specifically, not the range in general.
288 kVA
A 400 A incomer on a 415 V three-phase supply carries about 288 kVA at full rating. We list this panel at ~200 kVA because continuous loading is normally held well below the breaker rating — the difference is your diversity and future-expansion margin.
6 ways
6 ways of protected outgoing feeders. Allow one spare way at commissioning: adding a feeder later means de-energising the whole board, and on a working shop floor that shutdown usually costs more than the extra way did.
IP54
IP54 is dust-protected and rated against splashing water from any direction — an indoor plant room or a sheltered outdoor position. A fully exposed outdoor location, or a washdown area in food or pharma, needs a higher rating and a canopy; tell us the mounting position and we will build to suit.

When is a 400A board the right size?
400 A is the workhorse rating for a mid-sized factory — a sanctioned load around 200 kVA, which in practice covers 15 to 25 machines plus compressors, lighting and office supply. Six ways lets you separate production lines from services, so an earth fault on one line does not drop the whole floor. This is also the board most often paired with a 200–250 kVA servo stabilizer sitting immediately upstream of it. Step up to the 630 A eight-way board if you have a second shift's expansion already sanctioned, or if any single outgoing feeder will exceed 200 A — a heavily loaded way on a six-way board is the configuration we are most often called back to rebuild.

Where a 400A board goes in, and what the site needs
Typical installations
We supply ~200 kVA most often into manufacturing facilities, industrial buildings, hospitals and schools & colleges, alongside shopping complexes and residential complexes. What separates those sites is how the outgoing ways get allocated. Two boards of this rating can look identical on the schedule and behave completely differently depending on whether one feeder carries most of the load or the demand is spread evenly across them.
Site preparation
At 450 kg you need a pallet truck at minimum and a level, load-spreading base. Check the route for ramp gradients — a hydraulic truck carrying 450 kg will not climb much of one. Leave working clearance on the terminal side for cable entry and inspection. Sustained ambient above 45 °C, or an enclosed room without cross-ventilation, requires derating — send us the room conditions and we will confirm the rating still holds where you intend to put it.
