When is 100 kVAr the right choice?
100 kVAr is the most common panel size for medium-to-large factories where the electricity bill consistently shows a power factor between 0.80 and 0.88. A food processing plant running belt conveyors, pumps, and refrigeration compressors, or a pharmaceutical packaging line with several 15–30 kW servo motors, will typically have a reactive demand in the 80–120 kVAr range. This panel's 8-step switching means the controller can fine-tune compensation to within 12.5 kVAr of the target — precise enough to hold PF above 0.95 across the full production shift without overshooting. If your DG set trips on overload during grid outages, improving PF with this panel will often eliminate the issue without buying a larger DG.
