Reading the specification

What these numbers mean for your installation

A datasheet tells you what the unit does. This is what each figure changes about how you specify, feed and site it — worked out for the 25 kVA specifically, not the range in general.

Rated current

35 A per phase

At 415 V three-phase, 25 kVA works out at roughly 35 A per phase. A single four-core run per phase carries this comfortably. Size the cable and upstream MCCB for 43 A continuous — the 25% margin covers the harmonic content that switched-mode loads push back onto the supply, which a nameplate-sized cable will run warm on.

Correction window

300V–470V

The unit holds output at 415V ±1% anywhere between 300 V and 470 V in. Pulling a 300 V supply back up to 415 V means adding 115 V — a 38% lift on the incoming supply, with the series winding carrying roughly 7 kVA of the 25 kVA throughput. Below 300 V it runs out of range, and the answer is a wider-window build, not more kVA.

Response time

< 20 ms

< 20 ms is quick enough that connected electronics never see the dip as an interruption. At this size the unit usually sits ahead of one machine or a small bench, where a slow correction shows up as a reset rather than a trip.

Overload headroom

Thermal overload protection

Direct-on-line starting draws six to eight times full-load current for a few seconds, and Thermal overload protection is the margin that absorbs it. Keep steady-state load below about 80% of 25 kVA so this headroom is still available when the largest motor starts.

Sizing Guide

When is 25 kVA the right choice?

25 kVA is the minimum practical size for three-phase industrial stabilization and suits single-machine operations — one CNC lathe, one laser cutter, one injection moulding press below 20 kW, or a diagnostic lab with 3–4 medical devices on a shared circuit. It is also commonly specified as a dedicated stabilizer for a single floor of a commercial building, protecting lifts, fire panels, and BMS equipment independently from the main supply. At this size, air cooling is standard and the compact footprint (typically under 0.5 m²) means it installs in electrical cupboards where a larger unit would not fit.

Before you order

Where 25 kVA goes in, and what the site needs

Typical installations

We supply 25 kVA most often into small manufacturing units, testing laboratories, medical facilities and digital print shops, alongside small assembly lines and workshop operations. What separates those sites is duty cycle rather than load. A rating that runs cool on single-shift work sits near the top of its thermal range on a continuous three-shift line, and that is the point at which oil cooling stops being optional.

Site preparation

At 140 kg two people and a pallet truck will position this. The practical constraint is the doorway and any step or threshold on the route, not the weight itself. Leave working clearance on the terminal side for cable entry and inspection. Sustained ambient above 45 °C, or an enclosed room without cross-ventilation, requires derating — send us the room conditions and we will confirm the rating still holds where you intend to put it.
