Medical imaging equipment — CT scanners, MRI systems, digital X-ray units, C-arms — requires input voltage stability within tighter tolerances than almost any other category of industrial equipment. A CT scanner mid-scan exposed to a voltage event will abort the acquisition, lose the scan data, and require the patient to be rescanned — with all the associated radiation exposure, time, and cost implications. An MRI system experiencing voltage disturbance during image acquisition produces artefacts that can be mistaken for pathology or cause diagnostic errors.
